Give us a nice long break

UK workers demanding longer holidays

The holiday season is upon us. But if you feel like those two weeks in the sun weren't long enough, you’re in good company.

Research from the Jobsite job board has revealed three-quarters of UK workers think their holiday entitlement is not sufficient.

A further two-thirds think there should be more bank holidays and more than half said they would take a pay cut to increase their time off.

Others complained that business intruded into their holidays, with 35% taking work-related calls, and 30% taking their laptops abroad.

The UK has some of the shortest holiday entitlements in Europe with statutory annual leave and public holidays as little as 28 days, compared with 34 days across all European Union states.
