Gaelic jobs get website boost
Scotland’s first dual-language recruitment website has been launched in Glasgow to improve employment opportunities for the Gaelic business community.
ScottishJobs.com has designed a Gaelic version of its site for the estimated 80,000 people who use Scotland’s indigenous language.
ScottishJobs.com’s managing director, Pat Kelly, commented: “ScottishJobs.com is all about inclusivity in the workplace.
“By including Gaelic versions of job opportunities on the site we feel we can bring together a relatively large number of employers and employees throughout Scotland who use the language everyday.”
ScottishJobs.com, which has offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, was founded in 1999, and is part of a group of ethnic online recruitment sites IrishJobs.ie, NIJobs.com and WelshJobs.com.
Gaelic, which was once forbidden to be used under pain of deportation, along with wearing a kilt and playing bagpipes, has survived since 500 AD.
