Environmental awareness has yet to filter through to the workplace, according to a new survey.

Online recruiter Monster found that 43% of British workers feel their firms are ‘environmentally unfriendly’ in a web poll.

Just 28% of respondents who were asked the question ‘Do you feel the company you work for is environmentally unfriendly’ gave the reply ‘sort of: we recycle paper’.

In all, 455 replied to the October poll on the recruiter’s website. Only 19% think their company has environmental awareness as a key part of its business policy.

Michelle Brown, a spokeswoman for Monster.co.uk, claimed: “The results of the poll suggest that more should be done to preserve the environment in the workplace.

We all know that small gestures like recycling paper require minimum effort and can go a long way.”
