Find the perfect fit
Are you a survivor, a supporter, a contender, balancer or believer? Visitors to Jobsite will now be able to find out by building their own psychological profile to find a job that best suits their mindset.
The company acted after new research revealed many British workers were unhappy at work.
Following consultations with business psychologists and experts from companies including Coca-Cola, Nike and Pepsi, Jobsite has created an online test that allows jobseekers find out what motivates people to work.
Jobsite UK managing director Keith Potts says the Jobsite Personality Profile was created after research revealed a dissatisfied workforce, where 37% of workers don’t enjoy their work and 12% quit within the first three months.
By organising people into five categories, the tool allows job hunters to choose a role that suits them (see box).
The test involves 15 questions, takes less than 10 minutes to complete and is based around Gravesian psychological theories.
“When jobseekers go for interviews, the test details what questions they need to be asking and what answers they should be looking for,” Potts explained.
People may move categories if their situation changes, says Potts. But only certain categories are compatible with others: a “survivor”, who is not motivated by work and only does a job to pay the rent – is unlikely to be compatible with a rules-focused “supporter”.
Jobsite’s five archetypes |
Survivor: Strong, focused, believes in the survival of the fittest. Unafraid of physical challenges or risks – but not looking for a career, just a wage Supporter: A family person, who puts home life before work. Doesn’t want extra responsibility or decision-making. Believes in rules and structures at work – a dependable person who can be depended upon by bosses Balancer: Carefully manages time to get the most out of life. Wants an interesting job but has other priorities too, appreciates flexibility at work and enjoys informality, friendliness and democracy Believer: Loves to work and thinks the world has infinite possibilities. Believes people should pursue their passions and not get caught up with what others say they should do. A risk-taker, whose entire life involves having new experiences and learning from them Contender: Career-minded, puts work before family and believes only the strongest survive. Makes things happen and unafraid to make difficult decisions or take risks, but can also be ruthless |
