A growing number of finance professionals are relocating away from London as the North/South salary gap continues to decline.

Professional services recruiter WWB has claimed that qualified accountants and legal professionals are now facing a salary difference of only £1,000 to £2,000 to work in the North.

Relocation can even represent a better financial deal, because of the difference in the cost of living outside London and South East England.

Mark Welsby, managing director at WWB, says a growing number of candidates are choosing areas such as the North West.

“Salaries have risen in the region to reflect the shortage of qualified candidates, and we are seeing large numbers of candidates qualifying in London and relocating to the North,” he said.
