Recruitment agency needed in film biz

A recruitment agency for the film industry would help to solve the sector’s growing skills shortage, an industry insider has claimed.

Krysia Rozanska, chief executive of Screen West Midlands, said: “Recruitment agencies not only act as agents but give advice for people interested in it as a career.

"It is a really difficult industry to break into and has traditionally been those who know someone or who are from a wealthy background who manage to break through and we want to change that.”

Big players in the film and TV industry are joining forces for a conference to discuss how wannabe film workers can realise their dreams.

The conference, run by Screen West Midlands and the Learning and Skills Council, takes place on June 23 in the Birmingham Hippodrome.

Industry names including Channel Four’s creative director Adam Gee will sit alongside several education professionals on a series of panels to discuss the difficulties which potential jobseekers face.
