Executives seek new challenges
Global executives cite lack of challenges or career growth as the biggest reason for leaving their last job, according to a survey by executive search firm Korn/Ferry International.
The Korn/Ferry International Executive Quiz found that a third of those surveyed said the lack of challenge prompted them to look for pastures new, with ineffective leadership (20%) and attractive job market alternatives (17%) the next popular reasons.
The survey also explored what executives seek in terms of career opportunities. Four in 10 executives cited the company’s management team as the most important factor when considering whether to accept a new position, with culture (17%), brand and reputation (16%) and current strategy (11%) the next popular responses.
When asked what type of company they find most appealing, 45% of executives cited large national/multinational firms, followed by established, stable mid-size companies and small, fast-growth companies, which both garnered 27% of responses.
Family-owned and operated companies received just 2% of the vote.
The Korn/Ferry International Executive Quiz was based on a global survey of executives from more than 80 countries, between December 2005 and February 2006.
