Entrepreneur top job for teens

Research shows British teenagers want to run their own businesses as a favoured career

Entrepreneur is the top career choice amongst British teenagers, according to new research from the Make Your Mark campaign.

The survey of young people found that a majority of teens want to run their own businesses, web designer was the next most popular, followed by business manager and teacher.

Raj Patel, Make Your Mark’s director of Policy, says: “Young people want to take control of their own destiny and be responsible for their own successes and failures. There’s a cultural shift in attitudes toward enterprise taking place in the UK, and particularly amongst young people.”

The Make Your Mark campaign is run by Enterprise Insight, a non-profit organisation, it was founded by the British Chamber of Commerce, the CBI, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Directors.
