Email clampdown

Marketing law threat to firms

Recruitment firms which market their services by email could be at risk from a new law which came into effect last month.

The law demands that any firm which emails direct marketing material to its database of contacts will now have to secure people’s express permission to do so.

Previously, the law only required contacts to opt-out to say they no longer wanted to receive such material. But now contacts will have to opt-in, and firms will have to make these options a lot clearer.
