Easy does it
The easyGroup, which helped pioneer budget airline travel, is set to expand into the employment market with the launch of a new jobs website.
The company’s new venture, called easyJobs.com, is set to be unveiled shortly before Christmas. It will be powered by Monster, the global online service.
It will be free to jobseekers, who will be able to search from around 35,000 positions in the UK.
Ubiquitous owner Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s online portfolio already includes easyJet, easyBus, easyPizza, easy4men and easyHotel.
“One of the critical success factors of my first easy-branded venture 10 years ago was that easyJet became synonymous with lowering costs by cutting out the middlemen using the internet,” said Haji-Ioannou. “I think the job market has the same potential as the airline market.”
With Monster providing the software, candidates will be able to access jobs on either site.
Stephen O’Donnell, director of Alljobs, a portal of recruitment resources that monitors vacancies on job websites, believes this venture is a “cute” extension of the easyGroup marketing arm, adding that it is a “rebranding exercise, in order to bring in candidates and clients who are currently not using Monster’s brand”.
In last month’s Alljobs figures, Reed led the way in online vacancies in the UK with 274,697. Out of paid-for websites, Totaljobs.com came top with 60,660 vacancies, with Monster registering 37,530.
