E-recruitment is making the industry turn "lazy"

The rise of e-recruitment has made recruiters "lazy", and the industry is over-reliant on key performance indicators.
The rise of e-recruitment has made recruiters "lazy", and the industry is over-reliant on key performance indicators.
That's the view of Greatfleet managing director Stuart Blake, who was speaking in advance of the search and selection firm's interim results on 14 September.
It has been a time of transition for the company, whose main sectors are financial, legal, medical and IT. Its portfolio has expanded in recent months with two additions: International Doctors on Contract (iDoC) and Johnstones Recruitment Solutions.
Until December 2005, the company Blake headed up was called Longbridge, but it changed its name following the acquisition of Fleet Search and Selection.
"E-recruitment tools have made the standard of recruitment significantly worse," Blake told pagenum="65"Recruiterpagenum="65" in an exclusive interview.
"We know all the markets that we deal in. Recruitment is not about sending out CVs and setting key performance indicators. It's about knowing the best people for the jobs."
Despite undergoing a significant transformation, the company is confident ahead of its interim results. Blake said in a July trading statement: "The board has good reason to be encouraged. Trading conditions remain vibrant and we expect the interim results for the six months to 30 June to positively reflect the restructuring of the enlarged business.
"Greatfleet is now a very different business with a strong core offering which is well positioned to take advantage of favourable market conditions."
