DRIVING RECRUITMENT

Clearstone wins government-funded training project

Clearstone, the LGV driver training and recruitment company, has been selected to deliver subsidised LGV training to women across the East Midlands, West Midlands and London.

The scheme is part of the ‘Women & Work – Women into Transport’ initiative by Skills for Logistics, the Sector Skills Council for the freight logistics industry, and aims to increase the popularity of LGV driving as a career choice for females.

Clearstone says it has recognised the time pressures that many women today face and will offer the course on a flexible basis to allow candidates to train around their work and family commitments.

Candidates who complete the course will have a Category C LGV licence and a Driving Goods Vehicles NVQ.

Clearstone chief executive Paul Jacobs (pcitured) says: “We are very enthusiastic about the opportunity to train and develop women drivers as part of this initiative. Women are clearly under-represented within this industry and we are happy to be involved in an initiative that will encourage more women to drive LGV’s.”
