DRIVER RECRUITMENT
Clearstone, the HGV training and recruitment specialist, is tackling the commercial driver shortage with a pay as you go scheme for people training to be lorry drivers.
The scheme aims to make becoming an HGV driver a more accessible career path for people who do not have sufficient funds up front to pay for the training which costs around £1,000. Milestone trainees can pay as they go, committing to as little as £179 per session.
It enables candidates can learn and complete the training while still working in a full time job, as there are instructors available on Saturdays.
The Milestone option consists of a taster day, theory test and separate lessons that combine to make up the full HGV licence training programme.
Paul Jacobs (pictured), chief executive of Clearstone, says: “Often we come across candidates who have struggled financially to find a way into the HGV driving industry. We wanted to take a proactive approach to increasing the number of skilled drivers in the industry; offering the Milestone option will open up the possibility of training to a new demographic of potential talent.”
