Discrimination groups revamp
28 August 2012
New group to take over from 2006
The government is planning to create a new body to promote human rights and challenge all forms of discrimination to ‘achieve a fairer, more inclusive Britain’.
The Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR) will be responsible for new laws banning workplace discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief, sexual orientation and age.
The CEHR will take over from existing discrimination watchdogs in 2006.
