Decline of women in IT continues

Number down to 16%
The number of women working in IT has continued its decline, new research shows.
The number of women working in the sector is now just 16%, according to a study by e-skills UK.
The research shows that the UK’s percentage of females in ICT jobs has fallen over the past five years, despite industry’s and Government’s growing awareness of the need to broaden its recruitment and retention policies to address skills shortages.
Overall, when compared with the rest of the EU, Canada, Australia and the USA, the UK lies seventh in terms of female representation within ICT.
