Site floods firms with bogus job applications

A website is spamming recruitment agencies in a bid to find jobs for workers who have not got permits to work in the UK.

The Hungarian site claims to be an international job-board – yet all of its candidates come from Romania, one of the 10 recent EU accession states.

Recruiter received the unsolicited email from the site, called Job Trans, which mistook the magazine for a recruitment agency.

The site showed an advert with employment details from a woman who was interested in working as a babysitter, claiming she already had a 12-month work permit.

But jobseekers from Romania must have a work permit already arranged with an employer before they can enter the country.

The site allowed us to download a copy of the woman’s passport, diploma certificate, police records and a medical certificate.

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “Romanians would need to have a work permit which has to be arranged before they enter the UK.”

A spokesman for Job Trans said: “Although it is written that he/she has a work permit, this in fact it represents that the person is commited to work in a strange country for 12 months.”

Candidates appearing on the site must also pay a translation fee.
