CRB checks in standards row

Warning over quality of tests
CRB checks are not enough to prevent paedophiles infiltrating public bodies to target children, a specialist consultancy has warned.
Pamela Mansell Associates said that only specialised interview techniques could reveal adults unsuitable to work with children and vulnerable adults. Only a small percentage of child sex offenders had a conviction that would be picked up through the CRB checks.
The interviews ask candidates probing questions about how they would handle certain situations.
