Hays Construction & Property has confirmed that it has promoted Tim Cook to managing director.

Cook, who joined the firm as a trainee consultant, has been at the company for more than 19 years. He has been the deputy managing director for the past 18 months.

"As recruiters to the built environment we face real challenges, such as skill shortages, which are exacerbated by major projects such as 2012 Olympics and nationally, major public sector investment," said Cook.

"We work closely with industry bodies, highlighting our commitment to the construction and property sector. I look forward to developing these relationships further." Cook replaces Rob Smith.
