Compensation demand
A recruitment company head is seeking £500,000 from her former boss after he allegedly offered her £1,000 for every weekend she would spend with him.
Patricia MacKinnon has already won an unfair dismissal and sex discrimination case against Jack Parkinson, chairman of the recruitment firm the HR Group, based in Ashford, Kent.
A compensation hearing, also in Ashford, heard that MacKinnon had suffered anxiety and depression since quitting her job because of Parkinson’s obsession, which began when he helped set up her firm, Bromley Appointments, in 2002.
But MacKinnon rejected his advances and resigned as head of Bromley Appointments in 2003.
At a hearing last week, MacKinnon spoke of the emotional turmoil she had suffered since she lost her job.
She said: “While the executives of the HR Group and Bromley Appointments offered support throughout to Jack Parkinson, I have been offered none.
“I have had the stuffing knocked out of me throughout this terrible time. However strong I have tried to be, I have found it hard to continue.”
The hearing had been delayed repeatedly because of Parkinson’s ill health.
HR Group refused to comment. The hearing has been adjourned until 5 May.
