City jobs boom

Growth will continue until 2006

The City recruitment boom is set to continue, hitting a high in 2006, according to a recent survey.

The Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) found that work opportunities in the City would increase by 8,000 jobs this year and 6,000 in 2005. At 330,000, this would exceed its mid-2001 high of 325,000.

The sector forecast for the highest rate of growth was fund management, with securities and derivatives workers also in great demand, according to the CEBR.
