Children told to go it alone

Parents favour career independence
The majority of workers in the UK would not want their kids to follow in their career footsteps, according to a survey by high street recruiter Select Appointments.
The report revealed that 83% of 1,000 people polled would prefer their offspring to do a different job from them.
Select puts this down to the wider availability of career advice so children are encouraged to make choices independently, rather than rely on their parents’ advice.
