Challenge key in job changes
The most popular reason for leaving a job is the desire for a new challenge, according to a survey by technical and industrial sales recruiter Andersen Banks.
It found that while many candidates seeking to move up a rung on the career ladder will expect a pay rise, surprisingly only 12% of candidates surveyed were motivated primarily by the desire for more money.
Worryingly, almost 10% of candidates who registered with Andersen Banks were looking to move because they were mis-sold their current role at interview.
Simon Hayes, managing director of Andersen Banks, says: “Andersen Banks has recently been inundated with registrations from top candidates looking for a new role in technical, industrial or construction sales. We are finding that candidates are increasingly looking for a challenging role and that money is not the key motivator for a move.”
