CBI welcomes red tape cut

Deputy director hails Reform Bill

Government reforms designed to cut the amount of red-tape facing businesses have been welcomed by employer groups.

The Legislative Reform Bill should help streamline regulatory reforms and encourage a more business-friendly approach to employment regulations.

John Cridland, deputy director at the Confederation of British Industry, says the reforms must lead to a culture change in policy-making.

“The ability to deliver regulatory reforms swiftly and efficiently is good news for business, especially if Whitehall starts adopting a more risk-based approach to regulation as the bill intends,” he said.

“Employers are frustrated by the gold-plating of European Union directives. The opportunity to simplify regulation and get rid of duplication must not be missed.”
