CareerBuilder's new site ready for launch

US job board giant CareerBuilder will formally launch its UK site on 1 January, nearly a year after rolling out its initial co.uk offering.

US job board giant CareerBuilder will formally launch its UK site on 1 January, nearly a year after rolling out its initial co.uk offering.

The UK operation will focus on "large employment segments — finance, sales and customer service", said Farhan Yasin, president of international development.

Yasin told Recruiter that over 90% of CareerBuilder's current UK business comes from recruitment agencies and recruitment advertising agencies. In the US, the client base is more heavily weighted toward direct employers.

Yasin said: "In the UK we're going to start by building what we believe is a 'best in breed' product. The cornerstones of what has made us successful in the US have been superior technology, superior customer service, and a superior sales force. We think that will translate to the international marketplace."

CareerBuilder has phased its entry into the UK market.

Previously a partner with UK job board Jobsite, CareerBuilder began building its own UK team a year ago, and rolled out its first CareerBuilder.co.uk site last February. Company spokesman Michael Erwin said: "We needed to see it running, and work out some stuff, and build up the London office. It's a great site now, and it's ready to be pushed out there."
