Call centres staying

UK companies shelving outsourcing plans

Three quarters of UK contact centres have no plans to relocate overseas in the next five years, according to a study sponsored by Adecco.

The research found that 75% of UK call centres have no immediate intention of outsourcing overseas or offshoring operations.

Only 8% of the operators questioned currently outsource services abroad.

OMIS Research, which carried out the study, spoke to 130 call centre managers to determine the health of ‘Call Centre Britain’ on behalf of the global recruiter.

Kelly Bains, director of Adecco UK and Ireland, said: “Let’s not forget that ‘Call Centre Britain’ is growing not declining and in five years there will be many more people employed in UK call centres than there are now.”
