Stephen Hill, managing director and founder of construction recruiter Hill McGlynn, has stepped down from the day-to-day running of the firm.

Hill will take on a new role as executive chairman and will run the boards of the company’s UK and Australian businesses. He will also assist with the company’s strategy and future acquisitions.

Steven Ware will be promoted from group operations director to managing director and national operations director Mark Bull will become joint managing director.

Also joining the board will be Jasmit Kalra and northern regional director Mike Bower, who have both worked their way up through the company after joining as trainees 10 years ago.

Hill said: “I founded Hill McGlynn in 1976 and over the years I have seen huge growth in the company. After steering the ship for nearly 30 years on a daily basis I feel that it is the right time to hand over the operational reins to Steven and Mark.”
