Advertising complaint upheld
A job board has had its complaint against a newspaper group upheld after it printed misleading advertising on its website.
Justjobsnorfolk.co.uk brought a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) after it took issue with Archant Norfolk’s claim that its EDP24 site displays “thousands of new local vacancies each week”.
The ASA judged that, although EDP24 - the website of Norfolk daily newspaper the Eastern Daily Press - did carry many vacancies, not all of them were specific to Norfolk and therefore could not be considered “local”.
“We are happy that justice has been done in this case,” Justjobsnorfolk’s marketing director Russell Evans told Recruiter, who added that he made the complaint back in October.
“We have to keep an eye on what they are doing to make sure their claims can be substantiated,” he said.
Archant was told to contact the ASA’s copy advice team for guidance with future ads.
