Adecco probe: two quit
An accounting scandal at global staffing giant Adecco has led to the resignation of two of its top executives.
The company delayed publishing its accounts last week after its auditors, Ernst & Young, discovered irregularities in the reporting practices of its US division. Its chief financial officer, Felix Weber, and the head of Adecco Staffing North America, Julio Arrieta, have both stepped down.
Adecco’s admission of accounting difficulties wiped 35% of its share price and has led to an investigation by US financial regulator the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The firm’s chairman, John Bowmer (pictured), said the investigations included concerns over IT system security, reconciliation of payroll bank accounts and application of accounts receivable.
Bowmer said: "The board believes firmly in the continuing long-term success of Adecco and is taking energetic measures to co-operate with its auditors, regulators and other stakeholders."
