Up to 25% increase in salaries

Survey finds salaries rising for accountants, lawyers and HR

Year-on-year basic salary increases ranging from 10% to 25% have been achieved in the UK across a range of sectors, according to Robert Walters Annual Global Salary Survey.

It found that US law firms are offering significantly higher salaries than UK firms. However, UK law firms have responded by adjusting their salaries upwards.

Accountants across the UK are in huge demand, according to the survey. Salaries in London have risen by as much as 20%, the highest salaries for qualified accountants are to be found in banking and finance.

The survey also found that there is a distinct shortage of senior marketing professionals in the banking and financial services industry.

In the IT industry, candidates with broader communication and commercial skills have been increasingly in demand.

HR roles in a range of industries are assuming more importance and prominence, with salary increases of up to 10% experienced in London and the Midlands.
