100% success for young offenders work scheme

Programme to provide employment and life skills to ex-young offenders is winning

Pertemps Employment Alliance and the four Tees Valley Youth Offending Services have achieved a 100% success rate in their scheme to provide life skills, qualifications and career direction to young offenders.

Since the programme began in February this year, all 42 young offenders have gained qualifications, with nine now in employment and six on training courses.

Project co-ordinator Craig Chappell says: “It’s been inspiring to see so many do so well.

“We are waiting to hear the outcome of 20 applications for local colleges. The majority of youngsters who access the course want trade-based training but are not academically minded and prefer practical learning.”

The scheme offers continuing support to ensure success for the youngsters and their employers.
