Recruiter training on the up, says REC
New figures reveal 34% increase
Recruiters' demand for training hit a 12-month high in July and August, despite fears of a slowdown in the economy and news that a major training provider may close.
Judith Armatage, REC director of professional development, said more than 450 recruiters took part in REC training and qualification courses during the two summer months. This is an increase of more than 34% on the same period last year.
There was strong demand across the whole of the UK, especially in London, which is consistently a high attendance area.
A recent survey by the Learning and Skills Council showed that SMEs that have invested in training have seen business increase by 11%.
SMEs that did not invest in training saw orders increase by only 6%, the report claimed.
Armatage said: 'Recruiters with qualifications and a sound knowledge base are those who are likely to succeed in the fight for business - clients demand a consultative approach to their staffing solutions.'
The news comes after it emerged that a major recruitment training company, The Curve, is on the verge of liquidation.
