Fewer companies (51%) across the globe are currently hiring at professional and managerial level, finds the 12th Global Snapshot from international search network Antal.
Surveying over 20,000 businesses in commerce, industry and financial services across 50 different countries, it saw a drop from the 55% mark seen in the last survey, released in April.Antal chief executive Tony Goodwin says: “We would suggest this indicates that many organisations have now come to accept uncertainty as an unwelcome but inherent part of business life, and are consequently pushing ahead with investment and development in this ‘new normal’.”
Globally, the highest levels of recruitment were seen in Iceland (94% hiring a professional and managerial level), Israel (80%) and Qatar (76% – see more on Qatari recruitment here).
In total, 10 countries saw fewer than 50% of companies responding in hiring mode. The UK, at 49%, was among these, while Singapore (45%) and Egypt (28%) were the only non-European entrants on this list. The only countries with less activity than Egypt were Germany (27%) and Hungary (24%).
The last survey's most active country for hiring, the Philippines, with 97% of companies hiring, now stood at just 51%.
The full survey is available at Antal’s website.
