The average dealership employed 53 workers in 2011 – equating to a total of 17,600 dealerships.Dealerships’ mean annual payroll was $2.6m (£1.7m), meaning an average salary of $49k (£31.5k).

NADA also notes that on average, dealerships made up 14.5% of the total retail payroll in their respective state.
