The Department of Labour has announced that minimum salaries in the hospitality and taxi industry are to rise by 7% and 13% respectively.

Department head Albert Tshidavhu tells the government’s BuaNews services that the department’s inspectorate will do random spot checks to ensure compliance to the new wages, which are outlined below the ad:
  • The minimum monthly wage for hospitality sector employers with more than 10 employees rises 7% to R2,495.80 (£190)  
  • For employers with fewer than 10 employees, this rises again by 7% to R2,240.60
  • Taxi drivers’ minimum wages have risen 13% to R2,449.90
  • Tax rank marshalls’ minimum wages have also risen 13% to R1,959.40
  • Other employees within the tax industry will have a minimum wage of R1,713.70, again a 13% rise
