In comments reported in the Financial Times, Immelt says GE is likely to have “a lot more” plants in a decade’s time.Immelt’s comments come as a new report by IHS Global Insight, a US consultancy, reveals that this year, global manufacturing as a percentage of total world output is set to reach 17.7%, its highest level for more than a decade.

Much of the manufacturing renaissance is due to take place in China and the US.
