The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has appointed Peter Cheese as chief executive, effective 2 July.

Cheese spent 30 years with management consultancy Accenture, where he was global managing partner responsible for its talent and organisation performance consulting practice, before leaving in 2009.He takes over from Jackie Orme, who stood down in January for health reasons.
