Barack Obama has announced a package to cut unemployment amongst Armed Forces veterans, reports the Associated Press.

Veterans will be able to find work through a conservation programme that would include the rebuilding of trails, roads and levees on public lands.According to the news agency, unemployment amongst veterans is 13.1%, and 8.1% amongst the rest of the population.

However, it also notes the comments of Theodore Daywalt, chief executive and president of jobs board VetJobs, who said that those services leavers who totally separate from the military are, even given current economic climes, in general able to find work.
