INTERNATIONAL US: Best LGBT employers revealed

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has launched its Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for 2012, showing the best places to work as a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) person.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has launched its Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for 2012, showing the best places to work as a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) person.

Of the 636 companies officially rated, 190 received 100% scores, with 99% of all respondents officially prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and 81% engaging in a public commitment to the LGBT community.The 190 top-rated firms include telecoms firm AT&T, IT company Oracle, financial services firm Prudential Financial and retailer Staples.

Debbie Storey, AT&T senior vice president of talent development and chief diversity office, says: “At AT&T, diversity and inclusion are a business imperative and the key to our future success.

“We know that only by harnessing the diverse backgrounds and views represented by our workforce will we be able to meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve.”
