Legal column Yes, but it’s nothing to do with bird flu. Viral marketing is cheap and often wildly effective, but are negative campaigns which is a problem for brands.

Last year, rock band Metallica announced that it was suing Unfaith, a Canadian band, over use of the chords E and F. Metallica’s drummer, Lars Ulrich, was reported to have said: "We’re not stating we own those two chords individually – that would be ridiculous. We’re just saying that in that specific order, people have grown to associate E, F with our music."
