Closed circuit television systems raise many familiar legal issues for purchasers, including data protection, access to information and privacy, as Karen Wontner explains
Research carried out for the Home Office indicates that CCTV systems, while controversial, can be effective in reducing crime and increasing successful prosecutions. According to industry sources, the UK market for CCTV systems was worth about £350 million in 2002, with estimated growth of 15-20 per cent a year.
