Imagine a world without plastics. Sofas would still be stuffed with horsehair, kitchens would be full of hard-to-clean wooden surfaces and glass bottles would double the weight of the weekly shopping. Cars would be heavier and less energy efficient, while the photographic, film and recording industries might not even exist.
