Approved supplier lists have failed to increase competition or raise the standard of procurement in the public sector, argues Chris Keady

If you hope to do business with the public sector, then sooner rather than later you will encounter “approved lists”. As a private-sector supplier, you will be expected to jump through a series of hoops before receiving approved status. In the case of “open” lists, this usually involves the completion of a large pre-qualification questionnaire.
