The government plans to improve school food. David Arminas asks just how the situation got so bad and what purchasers can realistically do to improve things
The government’s promise of £280 million to help improve school dinners has had a lukewarm reception – part cynicism, part relief. “It looks like an election knee-jerk reaction to the problem but it raises the issue nonetheless,” says one buyer. “We’ve been saying there is a problem for the past five years at least.”
