To make the most of the opportunity that e-procurement gives them, purchasers need to acquire a new set of skills and personal attributes. Geraint John reports from the CIPS annual conference on what speakers felt were the most critical
With all the hype generated around new technology, it is easy to forget that e-procurement is about people. Speakers at this year’s CIPS annual conference, held in London this month, stressed that unless technology makes people’s working lives easier, they will ignore it.
Eric Salama, group director of strategy at the media giant WPP Group, put it succinctly: “...
