CIPS's information-gathering trip to Africa is now bearing fruit as the institute's international strategy takes shape. Steve Crabb reports


The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply is a genuinely international body. Of a current membership of 26,000, no fewer than 5,200 live and work outside the UK, with a high concentration of overseas members in Africa: for example, there are 1,208 members in Zambia, 800 in Kenya, 659 in Zimbabwe, 444 in Ghana and 343 in Malawi.
