Exploring the mysterious (and useful) double life of the cash book.
The cashbook is unusual within the framework of bookkeeping, as it fulfils two functions. It is the book of prime entry for all bank transactions and all but the smallest cash transactions, and it takes the place of the bank and cash accounts in the nominal (or general) ledger.
