Warning over poor IAS communication

The UK financial markets could suffer a major blow next year if the impact of International Accounting Standards (IAS) is not properly explained to analysts and investors, warns ICAEW Chief Executive Eric Anstee.

ICAEW research has found that more than a quarter of UK listed companies expect their key performance indicators to be negatively affected by the introduction of IAS next year. Companies are being urged to make sure that they fully explain any expected reduction in indicators such as earnings-per-share to avoid alarm among investors and other stakeholders.
