UK construction sector hits new high

Construction activity rose for the forty-fifth consecutive month in August, according to the latest construction purchasing managers’ index (PMI).

The overall PMI –a composite indicator in which 50 indicates no change-climbed to 57.4, its highest level in 16 months.

Growth was driven by strong activity in the commercial sector. The seasonally adjusted commercial activity index was 62.0, indicating buoyant growth.
