Tribunal backs buyer in bias case

A female purchaser is again poised to receive compensation of up to £500,000 for sex discrimination after a tribunal last week dismissed an appeal from her former employer.

Kim Hope, a CIPS member, sued waste management company Sita UK for sex discrimination, unequal pay and unfair dismissal after she was sacked as head of procurement in September 2003.

Speaking after last week’s decision, her solicitor, Stefan Cross, told SM: “We are delighted and are now looking forward to the remedies [compensation] hearing.”
