Revenue may accept credit card payments

The Inland Revenue is investigating the possibility of accepting credit cards for tax payments, according to a report by the National Audit Office (NAO).

The report says that the Revenue is considering whether to add the facility for taxpayers to pay by credit card for debts owed, but that the question of handling fees for such transactions also needs to be addressed. Debts owed to the Revenue totalled £14 billion at the end of March 2003.
